Class Objective: To complete a project for the BCA Science Competition and to learn the fundamentals of conducting research.

Class Overview: Each student, whether individually or in a team, will complete a project to be submitted for the BCA competition. In order to do so, the students will learn the fundamentals of scientific research. The topics to be covered will include: the scientific method, conducting background research, setting up experiments, and composing scientific reports. We will also be learning foundational statistics in order to be able to explain and analyze the data we obtain from our research. By the end of this course, not only will the students have finished their research project, but they will also have learned the skills necessary to conduct future research on their own.

Course Schedule:
Weeks 1-3: The Scientific Method and the branches of science. Picking teams and forming research proposals.
Weeks 4-6: Registratjon for the competiton Conducting experiments and the gathering of Data.
Weeks 7-9: Statistical analysis of the data and formation of reports and displays.
Week 10: Review of all projects. Project presentation simulations.
