KCC Children Reading Club (3rd-5th Grade)
The class mainly focuses on discussion, due to present day norms on the english classroom. In schools, children are taught writing based on what they read. My main goal and purpose of this reading club is allowing children to read the books they wish to read, but also teaching them how to discuss their feelings of the stories through words. As a high school student, I think discussion and public speaking skills is crucial in the classroom, and also in life. I want them to grow their skills in appropriately expressing their opinions and thoughts.
My name is Esther Park and I am a sophomore (10th) at Cresskill High School. I love reading and writing, and my future hope is to become a journalist. I want all of my students to share the same passion for literature as I do, and use this club to their advantage. Reading and writing is a basic yet essential skill, and learning to love it at a young age will provide several benefits to future generations. Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning.
