About the Artists
Hongbin Kim (b.1988, Republic of Korea), also known as VANHADA, earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fine arts from Hongik University and completed his MFA in Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts(SVA) in New York. His work abstractly represents the accumulation of momentary daily experiences, emotions, and memories. In his pieces, multiple brush strokes and various colors symbolize accumulated experiences and the consequent formation of the self. At the same time, he strives to rationally express his emotions and daily moments through the medium of painting.
Minji Seo (b.1998, Republic of Korea) is a New York-based Korean artist primarily based on painting. She recently earned an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her artistic practice focuses on capturing the deep sense of vitality felt when she is deeply immersed in current activities in everyday situations. The energy expressed in the moments when figures, situations, and spaces interact is presented using a rough line of oil pastels and the intense color of oil paints.
Kun Kyung Sok (b.1968, Republic of Korea) is a multidisciplinary artist born in Seoul, Korea and currently working in New York. Growing up during a period of great economic development in Korea between the 1960s and 1980s, she studied political science and later moved to the UK, where she undertook an MA in African Studies. She subsequently worked in several countries including Kenya and Cameroon as a community development consultant. She was very interested in achieving equal economic development so that everyone could live happily together without suffering. However, when she reached her 50s, she believed that art is the only way to transcend the pain of reality, and that artists are those who constantly challenge themselves to transcend the pain rather than succumb to it. She then moved to NYC to attend the School of Visual Arts for both BFA (2018 – 2021) and MFA (2022 – 2024), in Fine Arts.
Ahyun Jeon (b. 1997, Republic of Korea) is a painter based in Seoul and New York. Her paintings of the human body combine abstract elements with unexpected colors to call attention to the complicated interplay of emotions in the human psyche. She has been studying art since 2007 and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts at Ewha Womans University and the School of Visual Arts’ Master of Fine Arts program.
Bitna Jung (b.1987, Republic of Korea) is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in oil painting. She recently earned an MFA from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York. Fascinated by the innocence of children, her interest deepened through encounters with various children in New York. Observing parents and children, she infers parenting styles and reflects on how childhood experiences influence adulthood. Her work navigates the boundaries between representationalism and expressionism.
