College Seminar Showcase

December 19, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

• Self-knowledge matters more than ever: Good Grades and Scores are no longer good enough – but either are lots of extracurriculars. “Character,” “creativity,” depth of commitment to extracurricular subjects and a coherent narrative about the student’s unique personality and interests matter more than most applicants understand; therefore: self-knowledge matters more than ever.

• where your student might best fit in and flourish: How to think about which colleges to apply to, how they are different, and where your student might best fit in and flourish (big vs small; public vs private; university vs college; liberal arts vs pre-professional; Ivy vs non-Ivy).

• Implications from a recent case: What the recent lawsuits about Ivy League admissions reveal about the process that students and parents need to understand.

• Different paths to success in the complex American economy: What are the different paths to success in the complex American economy, and how is the American college application process so different from most other countries?

• Q&A session
